Pattern: The Basic Chunky Slouch

This basic slouchy beanie is the perfect hat using super bulky yarn. It’s super easy to adjust the length and size of the hat as needed. The pattern shown will make a hat that fits the average woman’s head. If you want something slouchier add more chains in the beginning. If you want it larger, just add more rows! Simple and fast!

Be sure to follow and tag me with your finished hat on Instagram! I love seeing your work!

Materials:

  • Super bulky yarn (6) I used
Cozy Wool Yarn by Loops & Threads
In Sandstone. I used an entire skein and just barely had enough, so if your hat is for a Man or you want it to be bigger/slouchier be sure to get an extra skein

  • 9mm Crochet Hook

  • Yarn Needle

Notes: This hat is worked in rows and sewed shut at the end.

BLO: Back Loop Only. Insert your hook into the back loop only of the previous stitch (loop furthest away from you)

Pattern:

Ch 25 (leave a tail about 12 inches long at the beginning of your chain, you will use it to sew your hat shut when your done.)

Row 1: Hdc back down the chain (24 Hdc) Ch 1, turn.

Rows 2-25: Hdc in the first stitch, Hdc in BLO in the following 22 stitches, Hdc in last stitch. Ch 1, turn.

Fold your work in half, Sl St the first and last row together . Tie off. Weave in end.  Take the tail of your yarn from the chain and weave it in and out around the top of the hat with a yarn needle and pull it shut like a drawstring. Weave the end of the yarn back and fourth a few times in the top of the hat to secure. Turn hat right side out.
