Pattern: Chubby Bunny Amigurumi

Easter is just around the corner, so I decided to make a quick bunny! He ended up being a chubby little guy hence the name, Chubby Bunny 🙂 I LOVE the Angel Hair yarn used to make this bunny. It’s the same yarn I use to make this adorable lamb hat.  Super soft and fluffy, if you haven’t tried it, you need to!

Materials:

• Bulky (5) yarn. One Skein. I used Buttercream Angel Hair yarn in white. You can find this at Joanns. Homespun Yarn would work as well.
• J/6mm Crochet hook
• Yarn Needle
• Scrap yarn for eyes, inside of ears and nose.
• Poly-fil to stuff your bunny

Notes:

You will work in continuous rounds for this pattern like traditional amigurumi. Be sure to leave long tails of yarn where indicated so you can sew the pieces together.

Pattern:

Body

Magic Loop

Round 1: Ch 1,  8 Sc into loop. Pull tight to close.

Round 2: 2 Sc in each stitch around. (16 Sc)

Round 3: *Sc in first stitch, 2 Sc in next.* Repeat around. (24 Sc)

Round 4: *Sc in first 2 stitches, 2 Sc in next.* Repeat around. (32 Sc)

Round 5-9: Sc around

Round 10: *Sc 6, Sc2tog* Repeat around. (28 Sc)

Round 11&12: Sc around.

Round 13: *Sc 5, Sc2tog* Repeat around. (24 Sc)

Round 14: Sc around.

Round 15: *Sc 4, Sc2tog* Repeat around. (20 Sc)

Round 16: Sc around.

Round 17: *Sc 3, Sc2tog* Repeat around. (16 Sc)

Round 18: *Sc 2, Sc2tog* Repeat around (12 Sc)

Round 19: *Sc, Sc2tog* Repeat around (8 Sc)

Round 20: *Sc2tog* Repeat around

Cut yarn, tie off.

 

Head:

Magic Ring

Round 1: Ch 1, Sc 8 into loop

Round 2: 2 Sc in each stitch around. (16 Sc)

Round 3: *2 Sc in first stitch,  Sc in next.* Repeat around (24 Sc)

Round 4-6: Sc around

Round 7: *Sc2tog, Sc* Repeat around. (16 Sc)

Round 8: *Sc2tog* Repeat around. (8 Sc)

Round 9: *Sc2tog* Repeat around. (4 Sc)

Tie off, leaving a long tail to sew head to body.

 

Outer Ears (make 2):

Ch 15

Sc in second chain from hook and across. (14 Sc)

Make 2 more Sc into last Ch. Continue on up the other side with one Sc in each stitch (13 more Sc) Join with a Sl St to first Sc.

Ch 1. 1 Sc in first 6, 1 Hdc in next 5, 1 Dc in next 4. Dc 3 times into next stitch. 1 Dc in next 4, 1 Hdc in next 5. 1 Sc in each stitch to the end. Join to first Sc, tie off leaving a long tail for sewing.

 

Inside Ears (make 2 using worsted weight yarn in pink):

Ch 15

Sc in second chain from hook and across. (14 Sc)

Make 2 more Sc into last Ch. Continue on up the other side with one Sc in each stitch (13 more Sc) Join with a Sl St to first Sc.

Ch 1, Sc in first 11, Hdc in next 4, 3 Hdc in next, Hdc in next 4, Sc to end. Join with a Sl St.

Tie off leaving long tail to sew inner ear to outer ear.

 

Feet (make 2):

Magic Loop

Ch 1, 6 sc into loop

2Sc in each stitch around. (12 Sc)

*Sc2tog* Repeat around. (6 Sc)

Tie off, leaving tail to sew to body

 

Make a small pompom for bunny tail, sew to body. Sew The head to the body first, then sew the ears to each side of the head. Add an embroidered nose and eyes to the face. You can either add 2 legs or 4 legs to the bottom of the body. I only added 2 to the front because I liked how it looked!
