I decided to experiment and made 3 different types of hair ties for my 2 year old daughter! They were super simple to make and look so cute! All you will need for this project is any size hair tie, I used smaller ones for toddler hair, and scrap yarn.
Purple Scrunchie:
Cast on to the hair tie by making a SC around it
SC around the entire band, not leaving any gaps
Slip Stitch to the top of the first SC you made
Ch3, dc 3 times into the same stitch
4dc into each of the following stitches around the band
Slip Stitch into the top of the beginning chain 3, tie off and weave in ends.
Pink Scrunchie
For the pink scrunchie I used worsted weight yarn instead of sport weight. I still used a 3.5mm hook. The pattern is exactly the same but instead of doing 4 dc in each stitch around, I did 3 dc.
White Scrunchie
Cast on to the hair tie by making a SC around it
SC around the entire band, not leaving any gaps
Ch 6, slip stitch back down the chain, slip stitch in following sc. Repeat around.
Tie off and weave in ends.
These are super easy and fun to make! Feel free to change up the size yarn you use. If you want a schrunchie with more ruffles (like the purple compared to the pink) add more dc into each stitch. Have fun!
