T-Shirt Yarn Rug – Free Crochet Pattern

I love a good T-Shirt yarn, don’t you? It’s perfect for all kinds of home decor projects like baskets, placemats, plant cozies and RUGS!! Right when I saw this yarn I knew I had to make a rug with it. The hardest part was deciding if I should do a circle rug or a rectangular rug! I ended up going with a small rectangle rug for my kitchen sink.

I knew that I wanted to incorporate tapestry crochet. It’s always so much fun doing color work in crochet! When you are working in rows instead of the round while doing tapestry crochet I think it looks a lot better if your work is going in one direction. For this rug you will be cutting your yarn after every row and joining your yarn back at the beginning for the next row! You will only be working from right to left and never turning your work. Leave an extra few inches of yarn on both sides and bam! You have built in fringe! 🙂

I’ve actually been keeping my rug on my desk the past few days and using it as sort of a computer placemat lol. Fitzwilliam (my puppy) is still in the “chew everything in sight” phase so I’m a little worried he will be attracted to the fringe and destroy it if I have it on the floor. However, I’m not mad about it because I think it looks super cute on my desk too!
