crochet pattern

I spent a lot of time crocheting newborn hats when I was pregnant with my second daughter. I wanted to share the super easy pattern! All 5 of these hats are the same pattern with different things added to them. You can see in the picture that the hat with the bear ears is a bit bigger because the yarn I used is a bit chunkier. I used bulky 6 for it and bulky 5 for the other four hats. So, I recommend using a 5 if your making for a newborn and 6 if its for an older baby.

Material:

Bulky yarn

Crochet hook 8mm

yarn needle

scrap yarn or buttons (optional)

Pattern

Round 1: Magic loop, Ch 2 and dc 12 times into loop, join with a slip stitch to first dc. (12dc)

Round 2: Ch 2, dc into same space, * 2 dc in next stitch (increase), 1 dc in following stitch* repeat around and slip stitch into first dc. (18dc)

Round 3: repeat round 2 (27dc)

Round 4-7: ch 2, dc in same stitch and in each stitch around

Thats it! you can shorten the hat by only doing 6 rounds or lengthen it by adding an extra round. You can also slip stitch around the bottom to give it a nice finish. Add any details that you like! I added pompoms, a flower, bow, bear ears and buttons. Super easy with tons of different things you can do to make it unique!

These hats are so quick to whip up and perfect for hospital donations!
