I don’t know about you guys but I love a good cozy pullover! The Pemberley Pullover is a super fun make and goes with just about anything! I used one of my favorite worsted weight yarns for this one- Lion Brand Heartland! There are lots of colors to choose from and the yarn is super soft and easy to work with.
The Pemberley Pullover features a v-neck and ribbing at the cuffs and hem. I wrote the pattern to have plenty of positive ease so it fits with a boxy, slightly oversized look! You can easily add or take away length in this sweater by adding or removing rows. Be sure to check the notes section on this topic!
This is a pretty simple pullover pattern that I think even a beginner could do it. You will be working your front and back panel from the bottom up. The sleeves are worked bottom down. I made an full video tutorial on this pullover so if you ever get stuck please check it out! One of my favorite things about this sweater is the yarn. I used a Fine weight yarn, specifically Lion Brands’ Oh Baby Organic Cotton! Now I know, I know you’re saying “a fine weight yarn?! Won’t that take forever to make??” And the answer is NO! It actually works up pretty quickly because this sweater uses double crochet and treble crochet stitches throughout the whole thing!
I made this design in just a couple of weeks with my testers following suit and making it within 2-3 weeks! Not only is it fast for a fine weight sweater but you also get the benefit of the beautiful drape and light weight feel! If you get hot and itchy in a lot of sweaters like I do, then The Autumn Belle Sweater pattern is perfect for you!
Lightweight and beautiful drape- check! Size inclusive- check! Beginner friendly- check! If you are a beginner this is doable! I use easy stitches, minimal shaping AND include video tutorials on how to do the stitches! Perfect, right?
Raise your hand if you love homespun yarn! Meee! I know a lot of my crochet friends dislike using homespun yarn because it can be a bit difficult to work with, especially if you are a beginner crocheter. I hope the Butterbeer Pullover pattern changes your mind if you are a homespun hater. 🙂 You can always substitute a different bulky yarn if you are totally against it, but I encourage you to give it a shot with homespun first!
Here are a couple of my tips on working with Lion Brand Homespun-

Keep your tension a bit loose! I know a lot of us have a habit of pulling our stitches down tight while crocheting. Don’t do this! One, it makes it harder to see the stitches and two, if you have to frog your work it will be difficult to pull out. You will also have a much harder time inserting your hook into the stitch and it may snag the yarn. So try and crochet with a nice even and “loose” tension.

Don’t rely on just your eyes for counting stitches. When you work with homespun yarn, the fluffiness of the yarn can make it difficult to see your stitches. I like to actually feel my stitches with my hands to help check my stitch count.

Start your work with a foundation row! My pullover pattern uses a foundation row for each panel. This not only gives your garment a bit more stretch and keeps the panel a uniform size but it also helps you keep your stitch count correct. When working with homespun I always find that the foundation chain and the first row gives the most trouble. It can be difficult to find where to insert your hook in the chain. If you use a foundation row it gets rid of this problem. I recommend THIS video/tutorial if you don’t already know how.
