There’s just something about stripes and fall that go together… at least I think so! 🙂 I knew I wanted to make some sort of striped sweater this season and that’s how we ended up with The Fall Fable Pullover!
I went back and fourth with deciding what kind of neckline to do and i’m so glad I went with a simple V-neck! I also went back and fourth with what colors I wanted to use. I was soooo close to using a forest green and cream color but I absolutely love how the nutmeg and cream turned out! Luckily there are so many color options with the kit! I can’t wait to see what colors everyone uses.
The Fall Fable Pullover crochet pattern is worked from the bottom up in panels. You’ll be switching out your 2 colors ever 2 rows throughout the main body of each panel. Don’t cut your yarn though! Simply leave it at the end of the row and when you come back to it you can pick it back up again and switch colors. This will create a small float along the side of your work. Once you seam everything together it’ll be hidden! This saves a lot of time from not having to weave in ends.
This sweater might be a little bit more intermediate due to the shaping of the neckline. If you need some extra help be sure to check out the video tutorial on my YouTube Channel! I find that it always helps to have a visual. Thanks fo subscribing while you are there!

Notes:
The starting Ch 2 at the beginning of the rows do not count as a St.
The Chs within the row count towards the final St count. Be sure to keep your tension loose when making the Chs. If you normally make your Chs tight you may need to size up your hook.
Starting on Row 2 of the main body of each panel, you will be switching out Color A and Color B every two rows.
Do not cut your yarn colors. Simply drop your working yarn at the end of the row when you switch colors. When you come back to it, pick it back up to switch colors again, leaving a float along the side of your panel. Don’t pull too tightly. You want the float to have a relaxed tension so that it doesn’t tug your rows. The floats will be hidden in the sweater once sewn.
Change your color by dropping your working yarn before the last YO and pull through of the St. Take your new color, place it on your hook and use it to pull through the final time.
To make your sweater longer, add rows to the back panel in multiples of 2. Add the same amount to the front panel just before the neckline shaping. Take into account your yardage requirements will change if you make length adjustments.

Note- This is a drop-shoulder style sweater. The wider the front/back panels are, the shorter the sleeve needs to be because they join further down your bicep. That’s why the smaller sizes have more rows than the larger. You an easily adjust your sleeve length by adding or taking away rows in multiples of 2 as needed.
Fasten off, leave a long tail for seaming.
Assembly:
Block your panels to the measurements listed above. I recommend a steam block.
Place your front and back panels together RS facing.
Using your preferred seaming method attach the front panel to the back panel at the shoulders. I used my needle and mattress stitch but you can use any preferred seaming method. Be sure your panels are aligned and that you aren’t bunching or skipping stitches.
Next, using the same joining process as above, we will be attaching the sleeves to the sweater. Make sure the center of the sleeve is aligned with the shoulder seam. Be sure to check that your sleeves are even on both the front and back panel as you go. It is helpful to use SM’s here to
keep your sleeve in place as you join.
Finally, fold your pullover so that the back and front panels are on top of each other, RS facing. Seam from the cuffs to the underarm and down the side of the pullover.
When seaming, be sure to keep the floats on top of your needle to hide them.
Neckline Trim-
Join Color A with a Sl St to the back neckline just to the left of the shoulder seam. Ch 1, 1 Sc in each St across the back neckline, Sc evenly down the side of the front panel neckline and back up the other side. Be sure to work your Sc Sts over the floats along the one side of the neckline. St count is not crucial here, just place your Sc Sts evenly as you go. Sl St to the first Sc made to join, fasten off.
