Pattern: Small Heart Pillow

Valentines Day is just around the corner! I wanted something cute and simple to give to my girls and thought a little heart pillow would be perfect. This pillow is made with super bulky yarn so it works up really fast! I used Bernat Blanket Yarn…that stuff is sooo soft and cozy! Feel free to use any type of super bulky yarn you have on hand. It only uses a small amount!

Materials:

Notes: You will be starting at the bottom of the heart. You will be working in rounds, do NOT join and ch at the end of the rounds. Instead, use a stitch marker and work in continuous rounds.

Pattern:

Start with a Magic Loop

Round 1: Ch 1, 6 HDC into loop (6 HDC)

Round 2: 2 HDC in each stitch around (12 HDC)

Round 3: *HDC, Increase* Repeat around. (18 HDC)

Round 4: *HDC, HDC, Increase* Repeat around. (24 HDC)

Rounds 5-7: HDC in each stitch around.  (24 HDC)

You will now begin making the first “hump”

Round 8: Insert hook into following HDC, Count 12 stitches over and insert hook into that 12th stitch as well, SL ST together. HDC into that same stitch that you first inserted your hook in. Continue on and HDC into the following 11 HDC, all the way to the other slip stitched half.

Round 9: Continuing the first heart hump, HDC in each stitch around. (12 HDC)

Round 10: *HDC 2, Decrease* around. (9 HDC)

Round 11: *HDC, Decrease* around. (6 HDC)

Tie off leaving a length of yarn long enough to sew the top of the heart closed.

You will now make the other hump.

Attach your yarn to the other side of the heart (next to the slip stitch) and HDC around 12 times.

Round 9: HDC around (12 HDC)

Round 10: *HDC 2, Decrease* around. (9 HDC)

Round 11: *HDC, Decrease* around. (6 HDC)

Tie off leaving a length of yarn long enough to sew the top of the heart closed.

Stuff heart.

Use your needle and yarn tail to weave in and out of the outer loops of the 6 stitches. Pull tight to close. Repeat on other side. Here is an awesome tutorial if you need some help.

Edging:

Take your second yarn color and attach it at the very bottom center of the heart with a single crochet. *Ch 3, Sc* repeat this all the way around the sides of the heart until you reach the bottom again. Tie off and weave in all ends.

That’s it! Super fast and simple. You can easily make a bunch of these to decorate for Valentine’s Day!
