If you’re a fan of any of the other ones, than you’ll love The Boxy Blooms Cabin pullover! The same signature look as the rest of the collection but…cozier. It has a comfy relaxed fit, and the cutest button up collar. You’ll be a pro at this one if you have made any of the other boxy blooms.
I used Lion Brand Heartland yarn in the color Indiana Dunes. You know I love a good heartland yarn sweater. There are so many different color options to choose from.If you plan on getting yarn, check out my kit! You’ll get the printable pattern download for free. Of course I also made a video tutorial for my visual learners or beginners! If you have any questions, head to the video first, your answer might be there! You can check it out here!
Getting photos of the Boxy Blooms Cabin Pullover was an adventure. I wanted it to look like a brisk fall day, however, I live in Utah. We usually have very warm weather still in September. It was 82 degrees when we had our photoshoot. Needless to say, I was extra warm and cozy during it. haha.
The Boxy Blooms Cabin Pullover is the cozy, cold-weather addition to the Boxy Blooms collection. It features the same classic stitches and signature look as the rest of the collection, with a relaxed, comfortable fit, long sleeves, and a cozy collar finished with a button closure. It’s the kind of sweater you’ll want to pull on when the temperatures drop and settle in for a cozy day at home. A video tutorial is included to guide you through the pattern.
To make a gauge swatch Ch 24 and follow rows 1-10 of the back panel. Your swatch will be larger than the required gauge. Measure 4×4” within that swatch to check gauge.
The Ch’s within the rows go towards your St count.
The Ch 3 at the start of the rows count as 1 Dc.
The Ch 5 at the start of the rows count as 1 Dc + 2 Chs.
When pattern instructs to work “in St from 2 rows below”, you will work your Dc around the Ch 3 from the previous row, with your St worked into the center St from the row before it. When you pull up your loop, pull it up a bit higher than normal to your current row, so that your St isn’t too tight. You will do this in Row 2 (working into the starting Ch) as well as Row 6 and all it’s repeats.
The front panel neckline and shoulder shaping are split into 2 separate sets of instructions, depending on size being made. Locate your size and follow only those directions.
To adjust the length of your pullover, add or remove rows in multiples of 4, to the back panel. Add or remove the same amount of rows to your front panel, just before you split the neckline. Take into account this will alter the yardage requirements above.
To adjust the length of your sleeves, add or remove rows in multiples of 2 before fastening off.

Repeat Rows 1-32(32, 32, 32, 36, 36, 36, 40, 40) of the back panel. Do not fasten off. We will now be splitting and shaping the neckline. Locate the center St of your panel and place a SM into it. Sizes XS, S, L, XL, 3X your center St is the center dc of the group of 3. Remaining sizes, your center St is a puff St. Next, count 4 Sts to the right of your SM and place a second SM into it. Finally, count 4 Sts to the left of your center SM and place a third SM into it. You have 9 Sts marked off in the center of your panel. These Sts create the neckline and will be left unworked.
In the next section we will be splitting the neckline and working the Right and Left Shoulders. It is split into 2 separate sets of instructions, depending on what size you are making. Locate your size and follow the correct set of instructions.

Fasten off.
Assemble Panels:
Block your panels to the measurements listed above. I did a light steam block.
Place your front and back panels together RS facing.
Using your preferred seaming method attach the front panel to the back panel at the shoulders (I used my needle and did the mattress stitch across). Be sure your panel is aligned and that you aren’t bunching or skipping stitches.
Next, using the same joining process as above, we will be attaching the sleeves to the pullover. Make sure the center of the sleeve is aligned with the shoulder seam. Be sure to check that your sleeves are even on both the front and back panel as you go. It is helpful to use SM’s here to keep your sleeve in place as you join.
Finally, fold your pullover so that the back and front panels are on top of each other, RS facing. Seam from the end of sleeve to the underarm and down the side of the pullover. Repeat on the other side.
Button Band:
With your panels RS facing, join yarn with a Sl St to the bottom left corner of the lower neckline. We are going to be working 2 separate button bands in the ends of Rows 33(33, 33, 33, 37, 37, 37, 41, 41) through Rows 41(41, 41, 41, 45, 45, 45, 49, 49) of the lower neckline on both the left and right side.
Row 1: Ch 1, 2 Sc into the end of each row up the side until you reach the final row at the corner (Row 41(41, 41, 41, 45, 45, 45, 49, 49), 3 Sc into last row, turn. (19 Sc)
Row 2: Ch 3 (counts as 1 Dc), 1 mini puff in next St, *Ch 1, Sk 1, 1 Mini Puff*, repeat from * to * until 1 St remains, 1 Dc in last St, turn. (19 Sts)
Row 3: Ch 1, 1 Sc into each St and Ch Sp across, turn. (19 Sc)
Rows 4-6: Ch 1, 1 Sc into each St across, turn. (19 Sc)
Fasten off.

In the following row, we are going to be adding button holes. I’ll be using 2 small buttons. Each button hole will consist of chaining 2 and skipping 2 Sts.

Do not fasten off after your last row. We will go directly into the collar instructions after seaming.
First, use a small piece of yarn and sew the bottom of the right button band to the unworked Sts of the lower neckline. Next, sew the bottom of the left button band to the unworked Sts of the lower neckline. The last 4 rows of your left button band will overlap with the last 4 rows of your right button band.
Collar:
With your yarn still attached, turn your sweater RS out. We will now be working the collar in rows, along the top of the neckline and button bands. Exact St count is not crucial to the pattern here, just be sure to end with an odd number of Sts in Row 1.
Row 1: Ch 1, Sc evenly around the neckline opening (across the top of the button band, up the decrease rows of the shoulder, along the back of the neckline and back down the other side), stop when you reach the opposite corner of the second button band, Approximate St count is 63 Sts but you can have slightly more or less if needed, just be sure to end with an odd number of Sts, turn.
Row 2: Ch 3 (counts as 1 Dc), in the next St work 1 mini puff, *Ch 1, Sk 1, 1 Mini Puff*, repeat from * to * across the row until 1 St remains, 1 Dc in last St, turn.
Row 3: Ch 4 (counts as 1 Dc and 1 Ch), Sk the next St, 1 Dc in following Ch Sp, *Ch 1, Sk 1, 1 Dc in Ch Sp*, repeat from * to * across the row until 2 Sts remain, Ch 1, Sk 1, 1 Dc in last St (top of Ch 3), turn.
Row 4: Ch 3 (counts as 1 Dc), in the next Ch-1 St work 1 mini puff, *Ch 1, Sk 1, 1 Mini Puff* repeat from * to * across until 3 Sts remain, Ch 1, Sk 1, 1 mini puff in the top of the Ch 4, 1 Dc in the last St (the 3rd Ch of the starting Ch 4), turn.
Rows 5 & 6: Repeat Rows 3 & 4.
Do not fasten off.
Sc evenly down the front of the collar, working into the ends of the collar rows, continue with 1 Sc into each Sc St of the button band until you reach the base of the neckline, Sl St into the bottom of the neckline to join, fasten off. Take a new piece of yarn and join into the first Sc St of the opposite button band, at the base of the neckline. 1 Sc into each St of the Botton band, continue to Sc evenly up the side of the collar until you reach the corner, fasten off.
Bottom Trim:
With your sweater RS out, join yarn with a Sl St to the left of either side seam.
Round 1: Ch 1, 1 Sc in each St and ch Sp around, Sl St to the first Sc made to join. (162(186, 198, 210, 234, 246, 258, 270, 294) Sc)
