Another addition to the Boxy Blooms collection is here- The Boxy Blooms Blanket! I knew as soon as I worked that last stitch of my Boxy Blooms Cardigan that I would be adding more designs to this collection. The pullover quickly followed and now the blanket is out in the world!
It features the same beautiful stitches throughout. I did however, do something just different compared to the cardigan and pullover. I decided to use 2 different color yarns and switch them out every 2 rows! It turned into a colorful and stunning blanket with NO ends to weave in from the color changes! You simply leave the yarn and pick it up every 2 rows, creating little floats as you go. When you work your border, you just crochet directly over them.
This blanket just flew off my hook too. It’s a decent size but you use so many double crochets and chains that it works up quickly and has an amazing drape. Perfect to just throw on the back of your couch or cozy chair. If you are a beginner then be sure to check out my video tutorial as well!
The Boxy Blooms Blanket crochet pattern is a fresh addition to the beloved Boxy Blooms Collection, wrapping you in garden inspired texture and color. Two self striping yarns dance together in blooming clusters across every row. With a full step-by-step video tutorial, it’s a project made for slow, happy stitching.
To make a gauge swatch, Ch 24 and follow rows 1-10. Your swatch will be bigger than the required gauge. Measure 4×4” within that swatch to check gauge.
Finished Measurements:
48” W, 54” L
Notes:
Add or remove multiples of 12 to your starting Ch to adjust the width of your blanket. Add or remove rows in multiples of 2 to adjust the length of your blanket. Take into account this will alter your yardage requirements listed above.
The Ch’s within the rows go towards your St count.
The Ch 3 at the start of the rows count as 1 Dc.
The Ch 5 at the start of the rows count as 1 Dc + 2 Chs.
When pattern instructs to work “in St from 2 rows below”, you will work your Dc around the Ch 3 from the previous row, with your St worked into the center St from the row before it. When you pull up your loop, pull it up a bit higher than normal to your current row, so that your St isn’t too tight. You will do this in Row 2 (working into the starting Ch) as well as Row 6 and all it’s repeats.
Start your blanket with Yarn A and work up 2 rows. Switch to Yarn B for the next 2 rows. Continue to alternate Yarn A and Yarn B every 2 rows. Do not cut your yarn. Simply “float” your yarn up the side of your blanket to switch colors.
Puff- *YO, insert hook in St, YO, pull up a loop* repeat from * to * 3 more times (9 loops on hook), YO, pull through 8 loops on hook, YO, pull through last 2 loops on hook.
