Take Two Top Crochet Pattern

I’m so excited to share with you guys the “Take Two Top” as part of the Summer Must Haves with Lionbrand.com! This is such a fun collection of different patterns perfect for summer so definitely check them out!

I used a newer yarn from Lion Brand called “Low Tide”. This is a fun yarn with a chainette style construction. The reason why I named my tank the Take Two Top is because you only have to make 2 of the EXACT same panels to create it! The front and back are exactly the same and then seamed up the sides. The straps at the top are tied into cute little bows so no worrying about seaming there!

I may or may not have crocheted an entire tank top before ripping it out and designing this one in a second attempt or a “take 2”. 😉 All part of the design process! I’m glad I started over because the second time was a big success!

Getting photos of the Take Two Top was a little difficult while in quarantine. A lot of times I have to design pieces way in advanced and sometimes the weather is not prepared for a summer top Lol! Usually I would go to a local indoor studio if I’m taking spring/summer photos in the winter but had to skip it this time. First I tried (unsuccessfully) to get photos in my backyard. That ended up being a fail with all of the fencing and houses around. Then I tried taking photos in my house. I managed to get a few good ones but I still wasn’t completely satisfied. Thankfully, I was able to go to a local trail and get a few good shots in while staying at a safe social distance! 🙂

Row 39(39,39,42,42,44,45,47,47): Ch 1, Hdc2tog, turn. (1 Hdc)

Ch 50(50,50,50,50,60,60,60,60) 1 Hdc in each Ch back down. Sl St down the inner side of your decrease rows until you reach Row 33(33,33,35,35,37,37,39,39), tie off.

Opposite Strap and Tie-

Lay your panel in front of you with the finished strap on the right side. Count 16(17,18,21,22,23,26,27,28) stitches in towards center of shirt at Row 33(33,33,35,35,37,37,39,39). Join yarn with a Sl St. (you will be leaving 8(10,12,10,12,16,14,16,20) stitches unworked in the center neckline between the 2 straps.

Row 34(34,34,36,36,38,38,40,40): Ch 1, 9(9,9,11,11,11,13,13,13) Hdc (BLO), leave remaining stitches unworked, turn. (9(9,11,11,11,13,13,13 Hdc)

Repeat Rows 35(35,35,37,37,39,39,41,41) through Rows 39(39,39,42,42,44,45,47,47) of “strap shaping” and “ties” sections. Repeat the same process of Chaining and working your Hdc stitches plus Sl St’s back down. Tie off.

Seam Together-

Place both panels together. Using your method of choice, join the sides together. You will be joining from the bottom hem to row 34(34,34,36,36,38,38,40,40). I like to use my hook and loosely slip stitch together. You can also use a yarn needle and mattress stitch together.

Tie your bows together at the top and weave in all ends!
