Unwind With Me- A Lion Brand Yarn Review

There’s nothing better than hearing the mailman pull up and opening the door to a big box of yarn from Lion Brand! I don’t know about you but I anxiously await my yarn delivery as soon as I click the order button. 🙂 Are ya with me? I have a few different yarns to show you all and some sweet patterns to go with it!

If you follow me on Instagram you know that I’ve been working with Lion Brand’s Basic Stitch Anti-Pilling yarn. You also already know that I LOVE it. I made The Cross Stripe Poncho with the Lion Brand Basic Stitch Anti Pilling yarn. You can find the free pattern here, and the PDF printable from Etsy here and Ravelry here!

Basic Stitch Anti Pilling Yarn-

  • Worsted weight of (4)
  • 100% Acrylic
  • 185 yards per skein

This yarn is perfect for things like garments and blankets. I’ve had zero issues with pilling (yay!) and I love how smooth it is! It has a nice sheen to it as well. I think that it’s the perfect mix between Vanna’s Choice and Heartland. It has amazing stitch definition and a breeze to frog. I used the marl version of it to make my Harvest Pullover shown below. You can find the kit for it here and the pattern here.

With the large selection of 18 solids, 12 multi-colors, 6 heathers and 6 marls you will never run out of color palette ideas!

Another one of my favorite yarns this year has been Baby Soft Boucle. Don’t let the name fool you, this yarn isn’t just for baby items. I made my Cozy Boyfriend Cardigan using this yarn and it has been a hit! Most of the colors are pastel but there are a few neutrals thrown in for some cute adult options! You can find the kit here and the free pattern here.

Baby Soft Boucle Yarn-

  • Bulky weight of (5)
  • 100% Polyester
  • 120 yards per skein

This yarn is soooo soft and fuzzy. It makes for an extra cozy yarn to use for garments. It takes a bit of practice to be able to see your stitches. My tips include to “feel” your stitches instead of trying to see them. Also, don’t be afraid to load up on the stitch markers to mark your rows! I’m currently working on a kids version of the Cozy Boyfriend Cardigan in the color shown below.

And last but not least is Basic Stitch Premium! I do not have a finished piece completed yet but have had the chance to swatch with it! I have big plans to make a cute slouchy winter hat with it.

Basic Stitch Premium-

  • Worsted Weight of (4)
  • 100% Acrylic
  • 219 Yards per skein

This yarn comes in 18 different colors. It’s your good ol’ basic worsted weight yarn that works for all kinds of projects! Garments, blankets, hats, scarves…you name it and this yarn is perfect for it. It’s super soft and I think will have really awesome drape for a cardigan. I can’t wait to get my beanie going on my hook. I might even have enough yarn leftover to make a matching cowl!

Have you tried any of these yarns yet? Which one is your favorite? Let me know if you have made anything from them, I would love to see!
