Tides Out Tote Crochet Pattern

I love a good summer bag. I love 24/7 Cotton yarn. Put them together and you get The Tides Out Tote crochet pattern!

I absolutely have to make a summer bag every year and this year I ended up with The Tides Out Tote! You will be holding 24/7 cotton yarn double stranded throughout to create this beauty. It uses a bunch of double crochet stitches for an easy and fun texture.

The large body fits this insert from Amazon to give it a sturdy and firm shape. When you lack the sewing skills like I do.. these inserts are a life saver! This bag can still be used without an insert, it just won’t have as firm as a shape like it does with it.

If you plan on purchasing yarn for this project I recommend checking out the Lion Brand kit! The kit comes with all the yarn you need and you can swap out colors!

This bag is worked in 2 identical panels from the bottom up. Sew the sides and bottom together then add the cute trim detail on the top! The straps are sewn on into the inside of the bag several inches down for a sturdier hold.

I really enjoy making video tutorial for you guys, I hope you like them too! I know some of us are visual learners or maybe just a very beginner and you need a little extra help! Check out the video tutorial, i’m sure it will answer any questions!

Joining Panels

Joining Panels

Bag Trim-

With your bag RS out and your yarn double stranded, join yarn with a Sl St to the left of either side seam.

Round 1: Ch 1, 1 Hdc in each St around, join with a Sl St to the first Hdc made. (104 Hdc)

Round 3: 1 Sl St in next 2 Sts, *Ch 3, 1 Sc in next Ch-2 Sp, Ch 3, Sl St into the base of the Sc, Ch 3, Sk 3 Sts, 1 Sl St in next (the center Sc of the group of 5 from previous row)* repeat from * to * around, your final Sl St of the round is worked into the second Sl St made at the start of the round (just before the first Ch 3), fasten off. (78 Chs, 13 picot)

Sew Straps-

Turn your bag WS out. Place your first strap about 3” in on both sides of the first panel. You will want to overlap your strap edges and bag about 3” from the top of the bag. This helps keep the bag extra sturdy and secure. Make sure both sides of the strap are lined up evenly before you begin sewing. Be sure to not twist straps. You can use stitch markers to hold in place if needed. Sew both ends of the strap down on all 4 sides with the yarn tail and needle, using your stitch of choice. Repeat on other side of bag, making sure your second strap is even with the first strap.
