It’s time to add another design to the beloved Daisy Day Collection! We started off with the Daisy Day Throw, then added the Daisy Day Tote and now finally The Daisy Day Cardigan crochet pattern!
I wanted to add a little bit of a fun detail to the cardigan so I decided on granny stripes around the bottom hem and sleeves! After that, it’s all Single Crochet stitch and doing some colorwork to create the daisies! If you have already made the Daisy Day Tote and/or the throw blanket you will already be familiar with these flowers. I created a fourth size flower for this design as well. If you are new to changing color frequently and carrying yarn in your project then I recommend checking out my video tutorial or practicing with a small swatch before beginning your cardiganI ended up creating “floats” on the back of my work in the flower sections. You do have the option to crochet directly over the yarn as you carry it along the flower but the colors might peek through to the front a bit.
I used coboo yarn for this design! It’s a really soft light weight cotton yarn from lion brand. It has a bunch of beautiful color choices as well. The Daisy Day Cardigan crochet pattern is a kit with them! So if you plan on buying yarn, check out the kit here and you’ll receive a free copy of the printable pattern download as well.
You can add length to your cardigan if you want. I set up the pattern in a way so that it’s easy to do so. You can add more rows in multiples of two just before the graph section begins on the back panel. You can also add more rows in multiples of two just after the graph section ends. Be sure to add the sam amount of rows to the front panels before fastening off your work.
Be sure to read the “Notes” section below on how to read the graph/instructions before you begin.
Introducing the Daisy Day Cardigan, a delightful crochet pattern perfect for adding a touch of floral charm to your wardrobe. This cardigan showcases three adorable daisies on the front and back, brought to life through color-work techniques. With clear graphs, a written pattern, and an included video tutorial, creating this piece is a breeze. This cardigan combines basic shaping with intricate color work for a stylish and unique look.

Notes:
This pattern is worked from the bottom up in separate panels.
The Ch 3 in the granny stripe rows count as 1 Dc.
There is both written instructions and a graph for the color-work portion of the panels. Follow the written instructions and use the graph as a guide. The highlighted numbers in the written instructions reflect the squares within the graph. The numbers on either side of the highlighted graph numbers are different for each size and not reflected in the graph.
Use separate balls of yarn for each flower. You will not carry Color B and C all the way across the row. Keep them with there own flower section. You will drop the color and pick it back up within the next row.
You will be creating floats with your yarn while changing colors. To create a float place the yarn you are carrying on your hook and work your Sc St over it to lock it in place (view video). I found this the best way to hide the yarn from the front of your work. You do have the option to crochet directly over the strands but the yarn may peek through on your cardigan a bit more.
Row 1: 82(88, 94, 100, 112, 118, 124, 136, 142) Fsc, turn. Alternatively you can Ch 1 more than the number listed above, work 1 Sc in the second Ch from the hook and across for the same St count of 82(88, 94, 100, 112, 118, 124, 136, 142) Sc.
Row 2: Ch 3 (counts as 1 Dc), 1 Dc in same St as starting Ch, *Sk 2, 3 Dc in next*, repeat from * to * across row until 3 Sts remain, Sk 2, 2 Dc in final St, turn. (82(88, 94, 100, 112, 118, 124, 136, 142) Dc)
Row 3: Ch 3 (counts as 1 Dc), work 3 Dc in each space between clusters across row, 1 Dc in final St (the top of the Ch 3), turn. (83(89, 95, 101, 113, 119, 125, 137, 143) Dc)
Row 4: Ch 1, 1 Sc in each St across row, ending with your final Sc in the top of the Ch 3, turn. (83(89, 95, 101, 113, 119, 125, 137, 143) Sc)
Rows 5- —(—, 7, 7, 9, 9, 11, 13, 13): Ch 1, 1 Sc in each St across, turn. XS and S just have 1 row to work here. Do not fasten off.
We will now be starting the color work section with the graph. Each size will have a different amount of Sc Sts on either side of the graph. This number does not change and will be the same amount throughout the back panel. Use the chart as a reference guide as you go. Carry color A with you as you go. Create floats on the WS of your work every few stitches. Do not carry colors B and C down the row. Drop them and leave them with your current flower and pick them back up on the next row. The stitches that match with the graph are highlighted in the written instructions. The numbers that start and end the row are not reflected on the graph and are not highlighted. All stitches below are worked in Sc.
Row 66-67(69, 71, 73, 73, 75, 77, 77, 79): Ch 1, 1 Sc in each St across, turn. (83(89, 95, 101, 113, 119, 125, 137, 143) Sc)
Row 68(70, 72, 74, 74, 76, 78, 78, 80): Ch 3 (counts as 1 Dc), 3 Dc in next St, *Sk 2, 3 Dc in next*, repeat from * to * across row until 3 remain, Sk 2, 1 Dc in final St, turn. (83(89, 95, 101, 113, 119, 125, 137, 143 Dc)
Fasten off. You will have a total of 73(75, 79, 81, 83, 85, 89, 91, 93) rows for the back panel.

Row 2: Ch 3 (counts as 1 Dc), 1 Dc in same St as starting Ch, *Sk 2, 3 Dc in next*, repeat from * to * across row until 3 Sts remain, Sk 2, 2 Dc in final St, turn. (31(34, 37, 40, 46, 49, 52, 58, 61) Dc)
Row 3: Ch 3 (counts as 1 Dc), work 3 Dc in each space between clusters across row, 1 Dc in final St (the top of the Ch 3), turn. (32(35, 38, 41, 47, 50, 53, 59, 62) Dc)
Row 4: Ch 1, 1 Sc in each St across row, ending with your final Sc in the top of the Ch 3, turn. (32(35, 38, 41, 47, 50, 53, 59, 62) Sc)

Assembly:
Block your panels to the measurements listed above. I did a light steam block.
Place your front and back panels together RS facing.
Using your preferred seaming method attach the front panels to the back panel at the shoulders (I used my needle and did the mattress stitch across). Be sure your panels are aligned and that you aren’t bunching or skipping stitches.
Next, using the same joining process as above, we will be attaching the sleeves to the cardigan. Make sure the center of the sleeve is aligned with the shoulder seam. Be sure to check that your sleeves are even on both the front and back panel as you go. It is helpful to use SM’s here to keep your sleeve in place as you join.
Finally, fold your cardigan so that the back and front panels are on top of each other, RS facing. Seam from the end of sleeve to the underarm and down the side of the cardigan. Repeat on the other side.
Trim:
With your cardigan RS out, join yarn with a Sl St to the bottom corner of the left panel (right when worn).
Row 1: Ch 1, Sc evenly up the side of the front panel, across the back neckline, and down the side of the second front panel. Exact St count is not crucial here, just try to keep your Sts even. I worked 1 Sc into then end of each Sc row and 2 Sc into the end of each granny stripe row along the sides of the front panels.
