The Fairy Floss Throw Crochet Pattern

I love a good blanket project that is mindless, don’t you? There is just something about being able to curl up with it, put on whatever current binge worthy show and crochet without having to think about what i’m doing! Even better, The Fairy Floss Throw uses yarn held double. So not only does it work up quicker, it gives a beautiful but effortless look!

The Fairy Floss Throw uses two different yarns, both of them Lion Brand. First is Pound Of Love which is a worsted weight and the second one is Mandala String which is a super fine weight. The Mandala String yarn does allllll the talking in this pattern. It creates a beautiful stripe effect with zero effort on your part.

There are so many different color combinations for this blanket. I used vintage white (but you can also use Vanilla or White for the same look) and Jazz for the mandala yarn. I wanted to see what it would look like with a darker yarn and I totally love it just as much!! Check it out below! You can use Charcoal or Black to achieve this look.

If you want more of a neutral look you can swap out the Jazz color for the color Ballad. I think this would look amazing! I’m so excited to see everyones blankets! If you plan on getting yarn I recommend grabbing the kit from lion brand which comes with a free copy of the printable pattern!

Fairy Floss Throw Crochet Pattern

This pattern is very beginner friendly. It’s worked from the bottom up in a 4 row repeat. Once you get through the first handful of rows you’ll have it memorized for easy stitching! If you need a little help, check out my video tutorial! Don’t forget, this blanket holds the yarn double throughout! And all that means is you will hold both strands at the same time as you crochet. Easy peasy!

Row 4: Ch 2, 1 Dc in first St, *Sk next St, 1 Dc in following St, 1 Dc around the post of the previous St*, repeat from * to * across row until 1 St remains, 1 Dc in final St, turn. (124 Dc)

Rows 6-77: Repeat Rows 2-5.

Border-

Do not turn after your last row. We will continue down the left side of the blanket and all the way around to add the border. Fasten off the Mandala String yarn and continue with the border using the Pound Of Love only. Stitch count is not crucial here, just keep your Sts evenly spaced on the sides and end with an even St count.

Round 1: Ch 2, 1 Dc in top of last St, continue working Dc Sts evenly down the side of the blanket into the ends of the rows. There is no right or wrong spot to place your Sts, just try to evenly space them as you go. When you reach the bottom left corner, work 3 Dc into the same St, 1 Dc in each St along the bottom, 3 Dc into the same St at the next corner, Dc evenly up the second side, working your Sts into the ends of the rows. 3 Dc into the upper right corner, 1 Dc in each St across top. Finish with 2 more Dc into the same spot as the first St made, Sl St to the top of the first Dc to join, TURN.

Round 2: Ch 2, 1 Dc in same St as join, *1 Bpdc, 1 Fpdc*, repeat from * to * around, Sl St to first Dc to join.

Fasten off, weave in all ends.
